When you’ve spent much your career testing software for lifesaving medical equipment and collision estimation, you learn to take QA rather seriously. So when Valerie Dale found uTest through a LinkedIn group, she was excited to have discovered a fun – and certainly less stressful - way to test the latest software applications from a wide-range of industries.
“If I’m given a good set of requirements, I can break almost anything,” she said of desktop applications, which she’s been testing for over ten years. And shortly after signing up with uTest, Valerie would be “breaking” software applications such as toolbars, census maps, process diagrams and scores of other interactive apps.
Refining the QA skills already in her repertoire, Valerie’s uTest experience has enabled her to develop valuable new skills along the way – and get paid for doing it. And as a regular visitor in the uTest Forums, she has also been able to pick up a few new tricks, learning as much as she can from the QA professionals in the uTest community.
“There aren’t many places that bring together this sort of QA knowledge,” she said. “uTest is as useful for novice testers as it is for experts – I’d recommend them to anybody involved in software development.”
In their own words...
On improved QA skills:
“I really enjoy the diversity of applications submitted to the uTest platform.”
On the uTest platform:
“I’ve learned more than I ever thought I would from the bugs that other testers have submitted – it gives you a better idea of your own strengths and weaknesses.”
