Teresa Blevins initially joined uTest to learn how crowdsourced testing worked and to see if she could implement it in-house at her company. Even though crowdsourcing ultimately didn’t fit her professional needs at the time, Teresa recognized the value and decided to remain a part of the uTest community – a choice she’s glad to have made.
“The knowledge and experience I’ve gained – along with the opportunity to share what I’ve learned –has been very rewarding,” she said, citing the uTest webinars and forums specifically.
The most valuable aspect of uTest is that it’s for all levels of testers; from the novice to the most experienced,” she said. “You can tell that uTest genuinely cares about the uTester community. They are constantly developing programs and incentives to help testers develop skills and make them the best they can be.”
Teresa’s initial introduction to software testing was anything but orderly. In a “trial by fire”, she was tasked with taking her company from a completely manual system to being run by a fully automated software suite. As such, Teresa understands the importance of educating testers.
“uTest truly fosters an environment of respect and mentorship, creating a reputable QA think tank which is greatly needed in an area that gets usually overlooked or easily dismissed by many organizations trying to meet a budget during deployments,” she said.

On Becoming a Top Tester:
“Don’t be afraid to ask questions and obtain clarification so that your focus is to ask yourself how you can add value to the customer, the application, or your project manager for each and every test cycle.”
