It all started with educational software for Lucia Maldonado – one of uTest’s top testers and two-time Bug Battle winner. With a background in Psychology, Lucia began her career in education for special needs children in 1994, and would assume responsibilities that included adapting curriculum to technology related projects and teaching staff how software could increase the quality of education.
“I don’t remember exactly which was the first application I tested,” said Lucia. “But it was educational software for sure. First, I had to check if the chosen software was suitable for the population I was working with. I also had to ensure that the educational purposes were covered.”
So when Lucia came across uTest in a Google search, and saw the need for experienced usability testers, she promptly joined the global community. “I found it interesting that I could work in those areas (usability testing on web applications) from my hometown in Argentina,” she said.
Within weeks of signing up, Lucia was soon making money testing a variety of web applications, including gambling games, social networks and browsers, to name a few.
In their own words...
On web application testing:
“I love to test web applications on the uTest platform, but my best experience so far was winning the Bug Battle prize money, of course.”
On software testing:
“As with architecture, when web pages and software are designed to be accessible to individuals with a wide-range of disabilities, they are more usable by others too.”
About Lucia:
“Apart from technology and education, I’m interested in art and design and how it applies to furniture, objects and buildings. I’m also really interested in design coming from Scandinavian countries and emerging artists from different parts of the world.”
