Using the power of crowdsourcing and social networking, Boston-based Currensee is redefining the way investors take advantage of the $4T world currency market. Currensee started in 2009 as the first social network for Forex traders and recently launched the Currensee Trade Leaders™ Investment Program, which gives investors of all types the ability to invest in the growing foreign exchange market (a place primarily reserved for professional traders until now) by leveraging top foreign exchange traders called Trade Leaders. A truly unique product for investors of all levels of skills and experience.

But with this new product, QA manager Marsha Jacobs realized that she would need a new-and-improved method for completing regression tests in a more efficient manner. With hundreds of test cases in need of execution, Marsha turned to another crowdsourcing pioneer: uTest and its global community of professional software testers.

Working with her dedicated uTest project manager, Marsha was set up with a hand-picked team of testers from around the world, who would then execute a number of detailed test scripts against multiples browsers, operating systems, special configurations and other areas over the course of three days (on average).

In addition to completed test cases, Marsha and her team would receive dozens of videos and screenshots of bugs their testing team encountered. The best part, she said, was that the process in no way burdened her in-house QA team.

In their own words...

On the quality of uTest’s global community:
The bugs were very well written, accurate and detailed. We were very pleased with the results.”

On the benefits of using uTest:
We had thousands of test cases for regression, and no easy way to test them. But with uTest, it was easy to submit these test cases and get them done quickly.”

On the cost of software testing:
Our project manager played a huge role in our success. He took care of everything from selecting testers, to submitting test cases and analyzing the results.” — Marsha Jacobs, QA Manager, Currensee
