Not a big fan of testing the same apps over and over again, Andrew Reshefsky searched for a way to test the latest web, mobile, gaming and desktop applications (without quitting his day job). After being referred to uTest by a friend in December of 2008, he promptly joined the global community – and became an instant fan of crowdsourced software testing.
Initially working on mobile applications – notably for the iPhone - Andrew would soon be test all sorts of web, gaming and desktop applications, earning money for approved bugs, completed test scripts as well as valuable feedback.
But Andrew says it’s not the money that keeps him coming back to uTest (not that he’s complaining), but rather the opportunity to get a sneak peak at the latest innovations from uTest’s customer base.
“I’ve really enjoyed working on releases in the uTest platform,” he said. “My background is in database-driven testing, so I’ve been able to do that fro some really interesting companies, and learn some valuable new skills in the process.”
On improved QA skills:
“uTest teaches you to look for bugs that are out of the ordinary. And since it’s a pay-per-bug model, it motivates you to find these bugs using new methods. It’s made me a much better tester.”
On the uTest platform:
“The communication between customers and testers has been very efficient. If you submit a bug that a customer doesn’t understand, they can easily ask for your feedback. Having that direct line of communication has been a definite plus.”
