Sunil Sidhwani was initially tempted by a career in network administration or desktop support. But a tough job market and the impending panic of Y2K offered a more enticing option in QA. Since making the switch he has accumulated expertise across the testing board.
“I have had a diverse experience spanning web, desktop and mobile testing,” he said. “Although, mobile testing became my bigger forte after joining uTest.”
Sunil worked his way up in the uTest community, becoming a top rated tester during his first year and being appointed as a Test Team Lead. He was recently selected to join the new uMentor program and has hosted discussions on “How To Write a Good Bug Report," as well as "Bug Verification Cycles - The Basic Understanding."
“From my first day on I just worked my way up through the ranks to get to where I'm at today,” he said. “I find myself ranking as one amongst potentially thousands of other top-notched uTesters out there globally.”
His quick ascension at uTest and the opportunity to work on a wide array of projects benefitted Sunil in his other testing endeavors.
“I had a daytime job which had mobile apps testing as part of its scope,” Sunil said. “Having already been with uTest for almost a year at that point has brought a broader and more ‘thinking out of the box’ style to my testing skills set, especially with the mostly exploratory nature on most cycles.”
In their own words...
On Finding uTest:
“This all started with fate. I attended a DFWQAA Meeting that covered the topic of Freelancing and one of the areas just happened to be in my Profession as a QA. Who knew this is what it would turn out to be like with uTest?”
On The Benefits of uTest:
“It's definitely an eye opening experience that helps broaden one's perspective on thinking outside the ordinary scope of a testing scenario. You can learn from experimentation, trial and error.”
About Sunil:
“I like to be in laidback environments where someone can work hard but play harder or be enabled to express themselves as a part of their professional lives. I find that it helps move the pace of the day along nicely.”
