uTest Closes 2008 On a High Note
Leading Software Testing Marketplace Doubles Number of Customers, Releases Completed, and Revenue Quarter over Quarter
uTest, the software testing marketplace, announced today that it doubled its business during the fourth quarter of 2008, compared with third quarter results. uTest made a splash when it launched its community of professional software testers and announced an innovative pay-per-bug pricing model in February 2008. The company ended the year with expansive growth in several key areas. Rapid Growth:
- uTest doubled its revenue, number of customers and software releases in Q4, compared with Q3. The company previously announced that its Q3 figures had doubled in comparison to Q2.
- Its community of professional software testers grew by 4,000 during Q4, bringing the total to more than 12,000 testers in 148 countries worldwide.
- The company increased the size of its team by 60 percent, including bringing on a new Vice President of Marketing.
"uTest's growth in the fourth quarter is further proof that innovative software firms are looking for a better way to test their web, desktop and mobile applications," said uTest Chief Executive Officer, Doron Reuveni. "Our community-driven testing solutions help our customers launch higher quality applications, get their products to market faster and control their QA costs."
More than 30 customers – including innovative organizations like Babylon, Optaros, OwnerIQ, Smartlogic, uLocate and the University of Illinois – adopted uTest’s services during the fourth quarter. Many companies use uTest to compliment their in-house QA resources and improve their real-world testing coverage without adding headcount.
New Investment:
- uTest secured $5 million in Series B funding in November from new investors Longworth Venture Partners and Egan-Managed Capital.
- The company announced that this capital will be invested in future growth and expansion through marketing and sales, as well as investing in its platform and community of testers.
Product Innovation:
- Built a seamless integration with popular bug tracking systems, including JIRA
- Added features that helped customers to better build their own virtual QA team
- Began offering vertical support for testing gaming applications
