Battle of the Specialty E-Tailers

With online retail or “e-tail” sales in the U.S. expected to reach more than $50 billion this holiday season, this time of year has many companies thinking about how they can optimize their web and mobile apps. IDC also recently reported that 28 percent of overall U.S. holiday spending will be driven by mobile in some way, accounting for $127 billion in sales. In response to this immense demand, uTest put the web and mobile sites of three major specialty e-tailers to the test:

The release is open from Friday, October 29 at noon (ET) until Monday, November 8 at noon. During that time, hundreds of other testers from around the world will search for GUI, technical and functional bugs in the aforementioned websites.

To win, all you have to do is find a bug and submit it to us through our online platform. The bugs must be original - bugs that are already known are not eligible - and because these are publicly available applications, we do not pay per bug like we usually do. Instead, we award prizes in several categories. For more on the rules and prizes, click here.

Once the competition is over, testers will fill out a survey, ranking each app in terms of usability, intuitiveness and other criteria. As with previous competitions, we'll be awarding nearly $4000 in prize money for:

  • Top overall tester (based on quality of bugs and feedback)
  • Top individual bugs
  • Top mobile bugs
  • Top feedback surveys (about the feature set, functionality and usability)
  • And other awards

Happy testing!
